Read the Terms and Conditions. Really. It doesn't matter if you're a salaried government crownling, a practising defence attorney, an ambulance chaser with a license to grift, a paralegal without a clue, a police constable, a constable at common law, a member of the judicial branch or just some pansy mentioned for good reason in one or more of the pages located here. Copyright applies. You're going to pay hourly for further explaination. Aird & Berlis my-digital-mischief-is-cool-because-I-paid-foreigners-to-do-it hourly rates in Federal Court, minimum.

Large increases in generic HTTP attacks, co-ordinated ASN request/response verification as well as geolocated URL rewrite consistency testing has led to some additional IP range blocking at the application layer. This may continue for some time but should be limited to IP ranges used by data service providers. A reporting system for IP whitelisting may be implemented if required in the medium term.

The type of attention that brings VPNs, TOR exit nodes, commercial security gateway probes and youngsters that think their expertise in something based on a border gateway protocol is useful also drags site crawlers and archivers along for the ride. If you're reading this, you've agreed to the Terms and Conditions or you've re-keyed again.

An alpha test of decentralized peer-to-peer media content delivery using distributed hash tables is currently underway, with an eye to mobile device consumption. It will take a while to deliver reliably to embedded devices but it's hard to ignore the majority of visitors use cell phones:

  • government employees favour iPhones, with Blackberries fading a couple of years ago
    • if they're at their desk, it's Windows 10 unless they're in IT or an elected body
  • independent attorneys and paralegals opt for Android devices more often than not
  • insurance adjusters and actuaries use Windows
  • journalists and New York boutique attorneys with dual citizenship residing in the Hamptons use iMacs and iPhones, sometimes concurrently
  • Microsoft Bing indexes and then Diversity, Equity, and Inclusions the copyrighted content for profit and politics
  • Everyone else uses barely updated iPhones, Android phones one generation behind, along with the occasional laptop, tablet, or Chromebook

Eclectic group. Also,

Sincere thanks to the Ontario Provincial Police for providing a copy of the Ontario Major Case Management Manual. While current and past revisions are to be found on the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services website according to provincial law, they have not been made available. This issue should be corrected shortly.

The article and commentary section of this site has not been abandoned or forgotten. Unfortunately, obtaining materials from municipalities and the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General is a time consuming process. To date, these efforts have taken precedence.

Some of the biggest cases of mistaken identity are among intellectuals who have trouble remembering that they are not God. Thomas Sowell

As a result, an in-depth examination of litigation privilege and solicitor-client privilege as they currently stand in Canada will become the focus of an article or three. Please bear with us, we'll get there.

Side-channel attacks targeting ring-0 / ring-3 context switching are becoming a hot topic again. The mainstream media is currently trying to distill this:

July 28, 2017: Negative Result: Reading Kernel Memory From User Mode

into "and that's how the cooking blog emptied your bank account and stole your identity." A significant Linux kernel update is coming. Expect another reasonable doubt hole in digital evidence.
Update: Intel stock fell 10% when a rumor of this hit the market, all CPUs made in the last decade are vulnerable, geeks around the world are mainlining coffee. You can drive a bus through the hole made by reasonable doubt in many forms of digital evidence as well as chain of custody.

In honour of CP/GO 2012-16387's five year anniversary, 3rd wave feminist author of libelous fiction Tawnie Grayer has agreed to complete a number of biographies for us when not attempting to further defraud the government. This effort may take some time, as the standards for fact, inference, and deduction used in Scott K. Campbell's Ontario Superior Courtroom will be strictly met or exceeded.

WikiLeaks has released Vault 7: Year Zero . A torrent is available:

Passphrase: SplinterItIntoAThousandPiecesAndScatterItIntoTheWinds

While the passphrase might evoke memories of a past American President and a certain three letter agency, the content may have an impact on judicial proceedings and digital evidence outside the United States of America. Take Umbrage.

Hello Blue Coat Systems . Using Facebook for threat intelligence, or just poorly managing your "Cloud Generation Gateway"? In any event, try not to get too excited if the site goes multi-homed instead of Cloudflare (GeoDNS and a few VPSs is much cheaper than a CDN).

By the way, did you know that 8.28.16.254 is on the CBL/XBL? Conficker can do that to an IP.

Notes from the fluff-fest:

  1. Al Frederick goes on far too many junkets. He also appears to learn the current state of the law he swore an oath to enforce using brochures in conjunction with watercooler conversations involving the authors of same.
  2. Asha James talks alot without saying anything. Good for LSUC member private practice, not so much for a panel discussion.
  3. Law students at the University of Windsor, as well as a certain professor, need an education in oratory minimization.
